...from any doubt over the 2010 season.
According to several reports, the embattled* Orioles manager had his option picked up for next season.
*I'm required to name him "embattled" due to the discussions in the media and among the fans over his job, though it is hard to know whether the debate within the organization was anywhere near as strong.
As an occasional critic of how he has managed the team, I'm glad to see him get another chance with a team that will be much improved from 2009. Hopefully many of the issues that appeared over the past couple seasons will vanish with better and smarter players.
Of course, if there is a repeat tonight of what happened the last time Trembley received a contract, I think anything is possible. I of course refer to the 30-3 loss in September 2007. Although after a 13-game losing streak, the longest in MLB this season and the longest for the franchise since 0-21 in 1988, I doubt things could get much worse.
Famous last words*.
*Along with "Hey ya'll, watch this..." and "Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line..."
