Dr. FLK's Bio

Dr. FLK (FLK is shorthand for FruitLoopKid, a (name derived from one of his favorite Os) is an avid sports fan from Elkridge, MD. His “first love” in sports is the Baltimore Orioles – a team that has won a pathetic 46.7% of their games during his lifetime (with a mere three playoff appearances.) The continued disappointment of his hometown Birds has generated an unbridled sense of pessimism that is often reflected in the skeptical views expressed by Dr. FLK. But, like a woman stuck in an abusive relationship, the Orioles promised him they won’t do it again…and, although skeptical, Dr. FLK reluctantly believes them.

Dr. FLK’s father was a lifelong Baltimore Colts’ fan, until Evil Irsay (that’s nicer than what I was taught to call him) decided to lead them out of town (Irsay is still a “bad word” in his household). As a result, the Redskins were Dr. FLK’s NFL team of choice growing up. And, being an apparent glutton for punishment, he’s decided to stand by his team during the wonderful Dan Snyder era. However, unlike most Redskins’ fans, Dr. FLK also roots for the Ravens…as long as they aren’t playing the Redskins.

In addition to following the Os, Skins, and Ravens, Dr. FLK holds season tickets to Terp football (finally forked over the cash for good tickets) and follows the Caps, college basketball (but yes, I’m a Gary Williams’ hater), bowling (always chasing the elusive 300 game), and the NBA (with seemingly less enthusiasm each season).
